Your car has an evaporative emissions (EVAP) system whose job is to trap fuel vapors inside a sealed system instead of letting them vent into the air. Those vapors get stored in a charcoal canister and later burned in the engine during normal operation.

P0456 means the ECM ran its automated EVAP integrity test — usually overnight when the engine is cold — and detected that the system is leaking. The key word in this code is "very small". The threshold is a leak equivalent to a hole smaller than 0.020 inches in diameter. To put that in perspective, that's roughly the thickness of a business card.
