P0353 means the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) detected an unexpected voltage reading in the circuit controlling Ignition Coil C — either in its primary winding (the low-voltage side) or its secondary winding (the high-voltage side).
The code does not automatically mean the coil is dead. The PCM monitors the circuit continuously, and anything that disrupts the expected signal — a bad plug, a corroded connector, a broken wire, or a failing coil — will trigger P0353.
On modern engines with coil-on-plug (COP) ignition, each cylinder gets its own dedicated coil sitting directly on top of the spark plug.
